Welcome
Kinokast is the small place where I show my visual work and present my architectural and portrait photography.
k i n o k a s t is a co-called portemanteau word formed by the common Dutch/ German words ‘kino‘ (cinema) and ‘kast‘ (cabinet).
The name is a ‘mot-valise’ and forms a little ‘amalgame fantaisiste’. I would like to suggest something pointing to meaning my own archives of movement – or in movement.
Thank you for sharing and for your good spirits!

Marching for Choice – AGAIN in 2022 ! everywhere!
“Watching the removal of a woman’s fundamental right [in the U.S.] to make decisions over their own body is incredibly upsetting,” New Zealand’s prime minister, Jacinda Ardern said.
Friday 24 June 2022The sky was so dark blue, and the sun so bright, that an eternal pink summer seemed to reign over this Berlin March against the Pro Life demo ‘MARSCH FÜR DAS LEBEN‘. 2018.

- Essay on Interpassive Photography: My Original Research updated with AI (2005+2025)In the essay from 2005 revisited by AI in 2025, I explore “Alternative Interpassivity” in architecture photography, positioning it as a philosophical and artistic approach that contrasts with hyper-consumerism and traditional notions of spectacle. I discuss the historical influence of classical and modern architectural figures, like Vitruvius and Le Corbusier, as well as post-modernism in art and culture, alongside the intimate photographic legacy of my master the architecture photographer Lucien Hervé (1910-2007), whose work emphasized subjective abstraction over mere documentation. Central to my hypothesis is the role of the theatrical “curtain” as a metaphor for the separation between public and private, audience and spectacle, relating this to concepts like the “interpassivity” of Slavoj Žižek and the “Epistèmè” of Michel Foucault. Furthermore, I analyze contemporary architectural sites, such as the Amsterdam Central Library (OBA, Jo Coenen archtitects 2006), with my art and design students, through the lens of visual thinking and the tension between philosophical concepts like Piety and Virtue, ultimately framing the photographic process as a search for essential meaning within the urban experience.

- Jakob Nielsen’s 1st of April joke or vision?Nielsen, April 1st 2024: ‘Of most interest to me is that this improved AI capability will finally allow the ultimate in discount usability: the complete removal of expensive humans from all user research. It’s common to pay study participants around $100 just so that we can watch them stumble through our product for an hour. And even though UX salaries dropped by 11% in 2023, they are still too high for it to be economical to pay a human usability specialist to spend an hour watching that user before he or she can write the report about how users misused our design (after wasting 4 more expensive staff-hours watching 4 more users).’
